

Worthy Sir Knight, Joseph Koval, 97, of Panama City Beach, FL passed away Monday, December 15, 2014 at Clifford Chester Sims State Veterans Nursing Home in Springfield, FL. Visitation will be Sunday, December 21st from 3:00 to 5:00pm at McGilley & Sheil Chapel with rosary beginning at 4:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10am Monday, December 22nd at St. Marks Catholic Church (3736 Lee’s Summit Rd. Indep., MO) with burial to follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Joe was born August 8, 1917 to Michael & Mary (Lotocke) Kovalczyk in Wilkes Barre, PA. He married Lilah Lee Latimer on August 17, 1946 and together raised 8 children. He was a wonderful husband, father & grandfather. Joe was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Pacific Theater stationed at Guadalcanal. He worked for KC Power Light for 38 years & was a member of IBEW Local Union 1464. He was a Fr. Bernard Donnelly Assembly 4th Degree Knight of Columbus & a member of the Fr. James L. Wallace Council 6794. Joe & Lilah retired to Panama City Beach, FL in 1990.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife and a son, Thomas R. Koval. He leaves behind his children: Gertrude E. Brake of Panama City Beach, FL; Mary. J. Grant of Lee’s Summit, MO; Michael J. Koval of Panama City Beach, FL; M. Jean Ranck of West Palm Beach, FL; Carol A. Kithcart of Raytown, MO; Jeffery R. Koval of Lee’s Summit, MO & Dorothy D. Davis of West Palm Beach, FL as well as 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren & 2 great-great grandchildren.
