A loving mother, grandmother (“Grandma Julie”), sister, and friend, Julie had a gift for brightening any moment — even while quietly sitting back and listening. She loved cruising around, wasting gas money and racking up miles on her new car, spending time with her grandkids, and catching up on too much sleep. Her signature way to relax always came with a grin, a little haze of happiness, and a bag of snacks — let’s just say she knew how to live life on her own terms.
Julie was unforgettable for her warmth, her listening ear, and her sense of humor. She never missed a chance to join the fun, laugh at a story, or welcome a friend with open arms (sometimes even when she probably shouldn’t have). We will all miss her 2 a.m. phone calls just asking, “What are you up to?” or “Can I ‘borrow’ $20 for gas.” Her beloved dog, Bella, was always along for the ride — literally — judging her driving whenever she got too close to the car in front of her while sticking her head out the window.
Julie is survived by her husband, Larry Medley; her sons, Corey Bolds and Matt Medley; her daughters-in-law, Amy Bolds and Samantha Medley; her grandchildren, Gage, Baylee, Colt, and Paislee Medley, and Jonah and Josh Bolds; her brother, Danny Taylor; her sister, Paula Hemme; and her aunt, Dixie Boston.
A graveside service of Julie’s life will be held on September 12 at 11 a.m., where stories, laughter, and we will honor her memory. Please don’t wear black — Julie would have rolled her eyes, her favorite color was purple after all. Mount Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO.
Julie may be gone from our sight, but her joy, her love, and her delightfully unforgettable quirks will stay with us forever. And true to Julie’s style, she’d want us to remember these things: never take life too seriously, laugh whenever you can, take a drive and if all else fails… roll it up and grabs some snacks.
