of March 10th, 2025 at the age of 62.
Born on April 13th, 1962 in Kansas City, Missouri, Kelly grew up with a deep love for family and
learning. From a young age, she knew her calling was to work with children, and she turned that
passion into a lifelong career. After earning her degree at the University of Missouri - Kansas
City in 1985 she made that passion her reality. For over 30 years, she guided and nurtured
countless young minds as an early childhood Montessori teacher, leaving a lasting impact on
every student who walked through her classroom door. Her warmth, patience, and creativity
made her a favorite among children and colleagues alike.
Kelly was the heart of her family. She shared 35 beautiful years with her loving husband, James
Lyle II, building a home filled with laughter and love with their four children and countless pets.
As a mother, she was endlessly supportive, always encouraging her children to follow their
dreams and face life’s challenges with strength and grace. She was always immeasurably proud
of all the educational accomplishments of all four of her children. She truly took great pride in
seeing all the successes each of her children achieved. Her brother remembers her as a
constant source of love and wisdom, always ready with a kind word or a listening ear. He knew
that if he ever needed anything, she was always just a phone call away.
Kelly was an avid reader, something she passed along to her children. She loved animals of all
kinds, to the point that her family adopted and housed several family pets at all times. Kelly was
a massive Chiefs fan and thoroughly enjoyed watching the team go for the three-peat this past
season.
She is survived by her husband, James Lyle II; her children, Kylie Lyle, James Lyle III, Becky
Lyle, and Aaron Lyle; her brother, Dean Redford and wife Louise; mother-in-law Dee Lyle; and
many nieces, nephews, friends, and former students who will carry her memory forward. She
was preceded in death by her mother and father, Carole and Roger Redford; eldest brother
Denny Redford; and father-in-law James Lyle I.
Kelly will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her unwavering kindness, and the profound
difference she made in the lives of so many. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew
and loved her.
A celebration of her life will be held on March 17, 2025 at Floral Hills in Raytown with a 4 o’clock
visitation and services at 5 o’clock; please do not arrive earlier than 3:30PM. The family
requests that instead of mourning black, guests wear green in celebration of St. Patrick’s Day,
one of Kelly’s favorite holidays and her favorite color. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that
donations be made to American Heart Foundation and/or the Head-Start Program in her
memory.
May her soul rest in peace, and may her love continue to shine in the hearts of those she
touched.
