Larry Stephen Phillips was born on August 18, 1942 in Bolivar, Missouri to parents Edwin and Mary Phillips (Carl Mashburn). Larry was a loving husband for almost 60 years (21,888 days to be exact) to Cheri; he was a dedicated dad to Kellie Phillips, Leslie (Rocky) Overman, and Laura (Chad) Bixby; a supportive Paw Paw to Cheyenne (Breanna), Cody (Charlotte), Rocci Marie (Mitch), Mercedes (Trent), and Kaylee; an adoring Great Grandpa to Callie and Atticus; and Brother to Tom Phillips, Kathy Russell, Joy O’Kane, and Karla Lucas. He was an incredibly intelligent man who surrounded his family with love and laughter. His smile and his stories will leave an eternal impression on anyone who was lucky enough to be in his company.
Larry dedicated his life to raising and supporting his wife and daughters by often working multiple jobs at once as an electrical engineer. He made a remarkable impact on the world with his dedication to many companies including Chevy, Jeep, Ford, and Accent Controls. His commitment to his profession in electrical engineering over the years is a reflection of his hard work, problem solving and persistence. Larry's involvement with western round dance groups for decades, as well as his lifelong passion for amateur ham radio with call names K0VVH and W0FP, highlights his diverse talents and willingness to share and teach these skills with others. His legacy is one of love, security, integrity, and strength. He will be dearly missed, but forever remembered in our hearts.
We all know Larry would sign off with, “Whatever’s right and 2’s 8” and “I love you!”
