

Lawrence Joseph "Larry" Isom, 76, of Kansas City, Mo., passed away in the presence of his loving family Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 9, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes, Kansas City, with entombment following in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 8, at McGilley State Line Chapel, where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m.
Larry was born Oct. 8, 1933, in Kansas City to Horace and Helen Isom. He graduated from DeLaSalle High School and attended St. Louis University. He served in the U.S. Army for two years with a tour of duty in Korea with an honorable discharge as a Sergeant. Larry was a Packaging Industry Executive, served as an Executive Vice President and was on the board of directors for American Western Corp. He served on the Kansas City-St. Joseph Diocesan School Board for four years and elected as president for three years. Larry married Joan Stimpfel of Shawnee, Kan., in 1958. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Nothing meant more to him than being with his family. Larry was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Robert Dale Isom.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joan; three sons, Kevin and wife Becky Isom, Stephen and wife Lisa Isom, Christopher and wife Melody Isom; two daughters, Gretchen and husband Mark Goodwin, Katie and husband Paul Cox; grandchildren, Gabe, Mike, Stephen, Megan, Emily, Nicholas, Grant, Evan Isom; Nathan, Hannah, Sam, Jack Goodwin; Andrew, Jessica and Gracie Cox.
