Lawrence Arthur Metcalf, Overland Park, Kansas, left us too soon on June 10, 2014. Larry was born on June 1, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri, and lived in the area most of his life. He was in the first graduating class of Shawnee Mission South. After his freshman year at KU he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was a Vietnam veteran having served as a Communications Technician. After returning home, Larry had various interest including refinishing cars, managing his photo shop, working with computers and hunting. He was a great help to his family by giving loving care to his elderly grandmother for several years.
Larry leaves a son, Joel H. Metcalf (Nani Verzon); parents Fred and Jean Metcalf; sister Loraine Hisel (Alan); niece Angela Wallace (Matthew); and a great-niece and great-nephew.
A farewell will be held at the graveside on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Moriah Cemetery, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, Missouri.
