It is with my absolute greatest regret that I must inform our friends and family of Leigh Margaret Dalton's (Loveleigh's) passing. This is truly an immense tragedy for our family that we have lost a daughter, sister, mother, auntie, and friend. Her life was cut short, as she had far more joy to give to this world with her contagious laughter, bright energy, and incomparable joyous presence as soon as she walked in a room.
We will celebrate Loveleigh’s life, at Volleyball Beach @ 13105 Holmes Rd, Kansas City, MO 64145, where she and her son watched many of her sister’s volleyball games. Leigh was always the loudest cheerleader by voice and whistle which no one can compare. We will celebrate on Saturday June 24th between 1pm – 4pm. Food and drink will be provided and please bring beautiful pictures and as many fond memories as you can muster. And since Loveleigh was nothing but a stupendous ball of joy, I know fond memories will overflow. This event will be casual and relaxed with as much of Leigh’s taste in Rap and Hip-Hop as we can find; dancing shoes are optional. 😊
Loveleigh was 44 years young, born on November 6th, 1978, in Cherry point, NC and passed away February 20th, 2023. She grew up and lived in Kansas City, MO, where she raised her son Louis Dalton (12yo). Loveleigh was a loving and devoted mother and was survived by her son, Louis Dalton, Mother and Stepfather, Jeanne King & Patrick King, and Father and Stepmother Melvin Dalton, Jr. & Kelly Dalton, as well as her siblings Jeremy & Whitney Dalton and step siblings, Hunter & Austin Turner.
Loveleigh was an amazing woman, with a talent for art and music. She had her own individual style growing up, trendy well before her time. She had many talents and jobs throughout her life including, Art teacher, store manager, pharmacy technician and one heck of a pen collector. She was a diehard Chiefs fan and could bring charm to any event she walked into, especially with her Cruella-like cigarette filters that she never left home without. She also had way more collectible Armadillos, Homies and Sloths than any one person should own. She loved taking selfies, even on someone else’s phone/camera for a good laugh and leaving thoughtful little Loveleigh notes where you’d least expect. Loveleigh was always a bit of a rebel but encountered everyone she met with an open heart and open arms. No matter her personal circumstances, she was always willing to help others in any way that they needed without judgement or hesitation.
She had a huge heart and the ability to see the good in everyone. Loveleigh always gave the best and most genuine compliments but would also show no shame in letting you know her opinions, whether you agreed with her or not. She enjoyed and loved her friends and family, and I ask you all today to remember her at her best and let that ray of light she so willing shared, shine bright in each of us. We will no longer speak of her in the past tense, as a woman who once was, but as a present and future fire within each of us, calling us to be kind, to love, to laugh and to shine bright like she has done for each of us. She is a light calling us to truth and justice. And she will have her justice and she will have her peace. Let us constantly be reminded of her passion for life and happiness through open arms and non-judgement. She is with us in our hearts and thoughts, always.
We love you, our dearest LoveLeigh.
