Leonard L. Rowland, age 77, passed away January 18, 2017. Visitation will be on Sunday, January 22 from 4:00 – 6:00 pm with Funeral services on Monday, January 23rd, 10:00am at Floral Hills Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for contributions to Crossroads Hospice. Leonard was born July 19, 1939 to Warren and Violet Rowland. He enjoyed fishing with his brother Donnie, dirt track racing at Lakeside and I-70 speedways and playing pool. Leonard was always in the mood for a NASCAR race. He worked for GM as a line worker and later as an inspector and was a member of the UAW. This reflected a love for cars. Working on cars at the Hilt Garage was a passion. He was a great handyman and after retiring from GM after 30 years, he started his own painting business. Leonard loved his family and they travelled many miles on road trips. From the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic Ocean and then down to the Gulf of Mexico, many hours were spent in the family car going to family reunions and stopping at the seafood restaurants in between. Leonard loved seafood, especially crabs legs and scallops. He was preceded in death by his parents and by six of his siblings, Warren Jr., Barbara Ann, Rose Marie, Bonnie Lee, Fred, and Delores. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary; his daughters, Paulette (Henny) Brassinga and Tonya (David) Dwyer; his son, Leonard Rowland Jr.; his siblings Martha, Donnie, and Dickie Lee; his grandchildren, Alexandra, Margaret, Natalie, Ella Brassinga, and Brody Dwyer. Also by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Fond memories and condolences for the family may be offered at www.floralhillsfuneralhome.com. Arrangements: D.W.
