Leota Mae Schupfer, 99, died April 24, 2011 at Excelsior Springs Hospital. Visitation will be Thursday, April 28th from 10:00-11:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Resurrection North Cemetery. Contributions may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
Leota Point was born March 31, 1912 at Varina, IA, to William D. and Bertha O. (Morrison) Point.. On September 2, 1929, she married Joseph Schupfer in Emmetsburg, IA, and moved to Kansas City. She had been a sales clerk at the Klines Department Store and bookkeeper for Buehler Brothers Meat Co. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church and their Altar and Rosary Society. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family, home cooking and gardening.
Survivors include her daughters; Marilyn (Jim) Marks of Gravois Mills, MO, Karen Hammons of Kansas City, MO, and Janet (Ken) Barnett of Excelsior Springs, MO, 14 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Lois Swearingen of Springdale, AR and Florence Stejskal of Grand Meadow, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers, 5 sisters, 2 grandchildren and a son-in-law.
