Lonzo Gary Garrison, 72 of Kansas City, MO, passed away on February 26, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2019 at McGilley Memorial Chapel-Midtown. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery, Kansas City, KS. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
Lonzo was born on July 19, 1946 in McGhee, Arkansas to Lawrence Garrison and Bernice Stewart. After high school, Lonzo joined the U.S. Army and served our country with honor in the Vietnam War, where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart. Upon returning from the war, Lonzo attended Penn Valley College and ITT, where he earned a degree in Electronic Engineering. After graduating he moved to Dallas, TX and worked for Rockwell International. Later moving back to Kansas City, MO and working for Honeywell in Lawrence, KS until his retirement.
Lonzo was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Harold Graves.
Lonzo is survived by three daughters, Claudine, Sheila and Jerri B.; two stepdaughters, Paula Cole and Jessica Cole; brother, Lawrence Garrison, Jr.(wife Linda); two sisters, Sandra Jean Scott(husband Royal) and Brenda James(husband Rodney); former wife and friend, Jerri R. Cole-Garrison; two granddaughters, Eryn and Gabriel; and a host of nieces and nephews.
