Marian and Chuck met on a scavenger hunt in Swope Park. Both of their partners backed out so they became partners - for over 70 years! They spent most of those years Square Dancing, camping at Pineville, going to War Eagles for the craft shows and working in the yard. Marian was always in the sun - she loved the sun. And every chance she had, she was in her yard. If you were lucky enough to be invited into their yard - it was a tropical paradise.
Marian started working as a carhop at Allens drive-in. After she married Chuck, she worked at the Hickman Mills Bank and later for Hartzfelds at the Blue Ridge Mall. Then she started her 20+ years at TWA where she met some life long friends. Once she retired, she started doing crafts under Chuck's Creations. Her specialty started with egg plaques, flower arrangements, and then Bonsai trees. Boy could she grow them. Her and Chuck would do several craft shows a year - Santa-Cali-Gon, State Fair, and most local, and some out of town county or city fairs - sometimes 2 or 3 shows at once!
She loved her family and always wanted them around. We would have our family celebrations with a breakfast. Everytime it was: biscuits & gravy, fried eggs, bacon, sausage, and pancakes. And there is not one restaraunt that could beat her breakfast.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband Chuck Millett, her sisters Betty Lee Witherspoon and Barbara Jean Meyer, and her brother Sheldon Bowling Jr. She is survived by her son Mike Millett, daughter Janet (Millett) Hicks, grandchildren Michelle Johnson, Lindsey Cross, Brandon Millett, and Kayla Hicks, 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.
She was our rock. And will be missed.
A visitation for Marian will be held Friday, May 13th, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Newcomer's Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133, followed by a funeral service starting at 10:00 AM.
