

Marilyn Jane Ferguson, 86, of Leawood, Kan., passed away May 29, 2013. Born Oct. 23, 1926, in Middletown, Ohio, she met the love of her life and husband John Ferguson at age 13. Marilyn was also lovingly known as Mernie, Mrs. Ferg, and Gma. "Mernie" found love, joy and laughter in everything! She was a devoted member of the Rotary Wives. She spent her free time playing golf, bowling with her rotary friends, taking care of her pool and most importantly having dinners with her family. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, John and her loving sister, Toni Jones. She is survived by her daughters, Toni Wilson, Wesley Gill and her husband Jim Gill, son, John Ferguson (Lois Gomez) and niece, Liz Lafuze and husband Tom. The joys of her life were her three loving grandchildren, Chris Wilson (Crystal), John Gill (Monica), Jennifer Ashby (Trevor) and great-grandchildren, Chloe and Cameron. Marilyn was a remarkable, strong and supportive mom and grandma. She was always kind to everyone she met and like her husband, John, she donated her body to KU Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rotary Youth Camp and Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care. A celebration of her life will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 9, at EBT Restaurant for her family and friends.
