A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday July 19, 2020 at 11:30 AM. This Celebration of Life will be held in the Fillmore Chapel of Unity Village, 1901 N W Blue Pkwy, Lees Summit, MO 64065, with the disposition of ashes to follow immediately in the adjacent Rose Garden.

She was born and raised in Boston, MA. While working for the Harbor Master of the Boston Naval Yard, she met and married a naval officer, Joseph Galbraith, and once he completed his commission, they returned to his hometown of Kansas City, MO. Together, they raised four. They belonged to Hillcrest Country Club and Red Gate Swim Club, where they were competitive bridge players.
Throughout their marriage, they attended St. Catherine’s of Sienna Catholic Church (South Kansas City), Coronation of our Lady Catholic Church (Grandview, MO) and St. Bernadette’s Catholic Church (Raytown, MO). Marion returned to work as a federal employee, for a number of years, and in 1980 this marriage ended in divorce. She would go on to marry and divorce two more times.
In 1985, Marion took the first steps in becoming a trailblazer by enrolling in college, and in 1990 she received a Bachelors’ in Psychology. In 1992, she had earned a Masters in Sociology and in 1994, received an Ed. Specialist degree in Curriculum & Instruction in Social Services. Her first position was as an Adjunct Instructor for the University of Hawaii until her eyesight started to fail. Wanting to be closer to family, she moved back to MO and worked for an organization called DART. She then went into private practice for herself as a Stress Management Counselor. She was also an ordained minister for the Church of Unity and served as a volunteer chaplain at several of the local hospitals. Marion also assisted in many 12 step programs.
Marion is preceded in death by her parents William and Anne Thompson, her sister Nancy Muller and her son William Galbraith. Her survivors include - Tambria Wormington (Patrick), Independence, MO; Richard Galbraith Shawnee, KS: Ann Galbraith, Prairie Village, KS; and Angela Fritz, (David) Kansas City, MO. Granddaughters – Melinda White (Benjamin) Kalispell, MT; Rebecca Stowe (Tobias) Lees Summit, MO; Paige Welsh (Cap) Sherman, TX; Merrisa Fritz Franklin, KY. Grandsons – Michael Wormington Benton, KS; Conner Galbraith Lawrence, KS; Evan Galbraith Prairie Village, KS; Luke Fritz Coloma, MO. She also has 17 nieces and nephews, 7 great-grandchildren, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
