I have very fond memories of this man and STA basketball camps when I was in grade school. He was a great coach and such an easy guy to like!  He will be missed, but he made an everlasting impact on so many lives!

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Huppe's passing.  My son John went to St. Ann where he was the Principal from 2005-2012 and Mr. H.  Was the best Principal through his Grade School years while Mr H was there-- 2009??

John was a bit of a clown and in first grade he was sent to the Principal and was crying.  Mr. H had a stern conversation with him but sent him back to class smiling with a lollipop--per the teacher who told me she wouldn't be sending John to the principal ever again.😊
We loved him wanted you to know of the great man we thought of him.

Mr. Huppe was my teacher during my high school years at St. Thomas Aquinas.  I especially remember his fun sense of humor.  He was always joking around and he did a great job of relating to us students.  He has been such a strong presence in the Catholic community and a deep devotion to his family.  His family will continue to be in my prayers during this difficult time.

I enjoyed getting to know Mark this past year.  What a light he must have been to have as a teacher and educator!  His energy was contagious.  He will be missed.

Mark was my 7th & 8th grade history teacher, and the first teacher I could relate to. He later introduced me to his little brother Doug, who would become my best friend in high school, college and beyond. I credit Mark with showing our community that the best legacy of all is a life well lived and a close family  (a very large one) to share it with. 

I’ll remember Mark also for his knack for giving everyone a nickname. I’m proud to embrace that tradition as well.

I am so sorry for your loss.  Mark was an intrical part in my son Jake's life.  I truly believe he helped form Jake into the coach and leader he is today.  Mark was always there  to encourage Jake on and off the basketball court.  Your family will remain in our prayers.  I hope you can find strength in each other and the memories you have with your husband, dad, grandpa and friend.

I felt like I was his favorite student, but I suppose we all did. (I really feel like I was though.) Even as a teenager, it struck me that he always spoke with such reverence about his wife. He was a great man, and I am sorry for your loss.

I will never forget you, Coach. You became a role model for me in the following (and more): giving a voice to those who have none, never giving up on someone, and speaking up for myself and others. I first met you my freshman year at STA when I was still the quiet girl in the corner. I'll never forget your voice, encouragement, and inspiration! Please meet up with my folks again; I know they'd love to see you again. Oh, and save a Cherry Pepsi for me. ;-)

Dear Huppe Family-

Your husband was a man that guided a class. He gave the meek strength and the overbearing a reason to take a step back. His wit helped with all the personalities a class can bring and caused everyone to respect and enjoy his class. Not only did we learn our subjects but we learned how to care for our neighbor while all the time padding it with God.

I know he worked very hard mowing lawns after school and I am sure he returned an exhausted man at the end of the day. He moved mountains, emotions, personalities and replaced their weakness with the ability to turn the page of tomorrow and do better.

So sorry to hear of Mark’s passing. Keith, Andy, Brenna and I have always had great respect for Mark and yourself  and the many accomplishments you have together as a strong family. We are currently out of town however, please know we are thinking and praying for you and your family.

The true measure of a man is what he does when nobody is watching! This was shared with me by my son Jeremy.

The location was a large Huppe nation and Doherty clan get together, Jeremy said Dad all the adults were separated into groups discussing current events. Jeremy said, Dad there was Uncle Mark out in the backyard throwing soft tosses with the little kids!

Very sorry to hear about Mark Huppe passing.  I know he was an excellent basketball coach.  I met him when he first came to the KC area to teach and coach.  He had been at one of the two main catholic high schools in Wichita.   I grew up in Wichita.  I was an ass't coach and kept the scorebook at bb games at Leavenworth High School when he was coach at Aquinas High School I believe.  I visited with him a couple of times and could tell he was a real gentelman.  He took pride in being in good physical shape. We talked about running as at that time I was a runner .  hard to believe that a person in as good as shape as Mark, cancer can still can get to you,   My sympathy goes out to Mark's family. Mr.Huppe,

You were never my teacher. You were never my coach. We very little interaction. However, even when I was a teenage student at a school you taught at,  it was evident you are a generous and caring man of high reputation. God bless you Mr. Huppe. I'm praying for you. Thank you for the indelible positive influence you had on so many lives. You helped the world be  a better place.

I had Mark as a teacher at STA. His patience was proven over and over every day having me in the classroom but he never gave up on me and I am forever grateful. Years later he would deal with my 2 sons at St James and he would laugh when i would get frustrated being called in with them. He would just smile and say “karma”. The world isnt as good without him.
