On Sunday, September 30, 2018, Martha Marie Davis, loving companion, grandmother, and mother, passed away at the age of 94. She was born on June 3, 1924, to James and Alice (Booth) Lauchlan. She married Donald Davis, and they raised two sons, Jim and John. She spent most of her working career as a city treasurer for Raytown.
Martha had a passion for playing the piano. She loved playing the piano for anyone that would listen. She would play the piano for church and then spend the rest of the day playing at a local nursing home or two. Even as her health began to decline, she still played piano and regularly had a crowd of other residents making requests.
Martha was preceded in death by her first husband Donald, her sister Alice Parkes, her brother-in-laws Don Parkes and John Hendrich, her son Jim, and her daughter-in-laws Cathy and Nancy.
Martha is survived by her second husband Darwin, her son John, her grandchildren Jeff, Greg, Joe, Allison, Stephanie, Robert, and Philip, and her six great grandchildren.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a donation to the City Union Mission of Kansas City.
