

Nayky was born on February 1, 1947, in the loving home of her parents, Sum Nou and Yeav Khim, in Perksdei, Cambodia. From an early age, she developed a passion for tailoring, especially dressmaking, which would become the foundation for her life’s work. A master of her craft, she later became a tailoring instructor in Cambodia, where she proudly shared her skills and mentored others in the art of sewing.
A survivor of the Cambodia genocide, Nayky demonstrated remarkable strength and resilience throughout her life. She was also a proud Cambodian ally to the American forces during the Vietnam war and carried many incredible stories from that time. After the war, Nayky sought refuge in the United States, where she rebuilt her life and made a home with her brother, Seng Nou, and sister-in-law, Mearm Nou.
Nayky loved traveling and cherished the time spent visiting family and friends. Her vibrant spirit and unwavering love for her craft will be remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by her brother, Seng Nou; her sister-in-law, Mearm Nou; her nieces Rany and Cheunda; her nephew, Sovann Dara Nou; her three great-nieces and her one great-nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sum Nou and Yeav Khim, and her brother, Earudu Kry.
Nayky will be remembered for her artistry, strength, and enduring spirit. Her legacy is stitched into every life she touched.
A celebration of life for Nayky will be held Sunday, July 20, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7000 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, KANSAS CITY, MO 64133, followed by a graveside service.
