

Ellen K. “Nell” Poster died Friday, May 29, 2015. She was born October 5, 1926 to Clemens J. Honkomp and Kathleen (Devine) Honkomp in Kansas City, Missouri. She graduated from Lillis High School in 1944, then attended St. Theresa College for two years. Nell worked for Socony Vacuum and the Pritchard Company.
Nell married Ralph J. Poster May 26, 1956, and they started a long and happy life together. Ralph and Nell built their home on 108th Street in Kansas City in 1963. They started their own business, Poster Foundation in 1967 and retired 25 years later.
Along with great happiness, Nell suffered great loss. Her mother died in June, 1941 and then her father the following March of 1942. Nell was only 14 years old. She lost her sisters Beth Honkomp in 1985 and CeCe Honkomp in 2006. Her beloved Ralph left her in 2010.
Nell was a woman of faith and enjoyed her friends and family. At holidays, she enjoyed entertaining nieces, nephews and extended family. She always tried to make all of us feel special. We will miss her dearly.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, June 8th, 10:00 a.m., at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 11822 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 7th, at McGilley State Line Chapel from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m., where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to Unbound, 1 Elmwood Avenue, Kansas City, KS 66103, or to Little Sisters of the Poor, 8745 James A. Reed Road, Kansas City, MO 64138, attention, Sister Beatrice Mary, or to Senior Care Homes, 9200 West 94th Terrace, Suite 115, Prairie Village, KS 66207, attention, Jerry Pullins.
