She was born to Ben Kenney and Marlo (Shull-Kenney) Miller. As a child she attended the Operation Discovery School (Our Lady of Good Counsel former campus) and Notre Dame De Sion school. She attended both middle and high school in the North Kansas City, Missouri School District.
She attended Johnson County Community College and took the various cosmetology courses necessary to become an Esthetician. She was a licensed esthetician or a technician who specialized in skin health. She performed treatments such as facials, chemical peels, and other various body treatments. She loved helping people with various skin ailments improve their conditions so they could feel good about themselves and boost their confidence.
In her early thirties she married and soon learned she was to become a mother. In 2012 she gave birth to her first daughter McKenzie Jean Thomasson. The joy she experienced in becoming a mother was immeasurable. In 2015 she gave birth to her second daughter, Kendall Christine Thomasson. She often commented about what a privilege and a blessing it was to be their mother. There are no words to describe the depth and the intensity of her love for her two beautiful daughters.
If you knew Nicki you knew she was fun loving, outgoing and vivacious and as a result she was great at making new friends and maintaining long term friendships. Her caring spirit and generous nature could be felt by people she met and as a result she had dozens and dozens of friends. If you were Nicki’s friend, you had a true friend in every sense of the word. You knew she loved you because she would show you in small, unexpected ways. You never had to doubt that she would be there for you.
She loved her family. When she went to leave after visiting family members she always said, “I love you” not once, not twice but multiple times. She would still be shouting, “I love you” out the car window as she drove off. She had a big family and enjoyed spending time with each and every one of them and loved them deeply. She especially loved her Uncle Frankie.
Like a true Kenney, you could often times hear Nicki long before Nicki entered a room. Her face would light up with a smile that would melt your heart. Nicki loved to dance. She was a great dancer and loved music too.
Nicki loved being silly and goofy and would often times get her girls in the car, and they would drive around with the wind in their hair, tunes blazing. In an instant they all turned into 3 rock stars. They would sing and were master “air” guitar players. If an activity involved just being silly and goofy that was her time to shine. You might find the 3 of them dancing down the aisles of their local Price Chopper or taking endless selfies of themselves with contorted faces…the sillier the better. We will always miss our little peanut.
Nicki is survived by her two daughters McKenzie and Kendall. Father; Ben and his wife Joyce Kenney. Mother; Marlo and her husband Greg Miller. Her siblings; Angelica Brim, Shelby Wilkes, Cassie Stock, Carmen Brim, and Peter Baldwin. Uncle; Frankie Kenney, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
