Patricia Louise Conwell

Patricia Louise Conwell, lovingly known as Pat, passed away peacefully on April 29, 2026 at the age of 97. A devoted Catholic throughout her life, she lived her faith through quiet service, compassion, and dedication to others.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Charles Conwell; her parents, Gladys (Shadinger) Hogan and John Hogan; her sisters, Joan (Hogan) Burge and Cecilia Hogan; and her daughter, Jean (Conwell) Anello.

Patricia is survived by her loving children: Tom Conwell (Joy), JoAnn (Conwell) Wittmeyer, Chuck Conwell (Shawn), and Theresa (Conwell) Fiala (Michael). She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother to many, cherishing each of them deeply.

Born in Abilene, Kansas on November 3, 1928, Patricia pursued her passion for learning at St. Mary’s College in Leavenworth, Kansas. She moved to Kansas City where she met and married Charles Conwell in 1953 and began a lifelong partnership filled with devotion, adventure, and shared memories.

Patricia dedicated much of her life to education and service. She taught chemistry at Ward High School in Kansas City, Kansas and later served as a teacher and Junior High Coordinator at St. Elizabeth School. She also worked as a librarian at Christ the King, where she shared her lifelong love of reading with countless students.

Pat found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She was an avid reader, delighted in spending time at her lake home at Pomme de Terre, and treasured traveling the world with her husband Charles. Together, they embarked on more than 20 cruises, creating memories that spanned the globe.

Patricia will be remembered for her intelligence, deep faith, and endless commitment and love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, teacher, and friend.

A funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas More Catholic Church on Friday, May 8th at 11:00 a.m. May she rest in the peace of Christ, reunited with her loved ones in the promise of eternal life.
