She was born on February 4th, 1940, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital to Wilbur Eugene and Helen May (Stover) Humphrey. She came home to her older sister Ann Marie Humphrey at their home in Lawrence, Kansas. She graduated from Paseo High School in 1958. She enlisted in the Navy in January of 1960 and served until July 1979 when she was honorably discharged holding the rank of Chief Petty Officer. She loved the Navy and the time she spent serving in the armed forces. After some time she came to work at Central United Methodist Church in Kansas City, MO where she spent over 14 years as their Financial Secretary/Treasurer. Peggy then moved on to the IRS where she worked for over 12 years as a Tax Examiner before retiring.
Peggy loved taking care of the people in her life. She was always helping others. Whether it was babysitting for friends and family, watching their fur babies, or making sure that they made it to their hair and doctor appointments. She was all about being there for her loved ones when they needed someone. Peggy was always in motion helping people, staying in contact with family and friends no matter how far apart they were. She was a solid rock of support in a lot of people's lives. For the past few years she and her close friends frequently attended Daniel O'Donnell concerts traveling to Branson and even a trip to Ireland to see his shows. These trips brought her a great deal of well deserved happiness.
She is survived by her brother-in-law Bobby Broadway of Overland Park, KS, nephews David Lyle Broadway of Great Falls, Montana, Gregory Eugene Broadway of Overland Park, KS, Jonathan Alan (Tara) Broadway of Independence, MO, and numerous close friends. We will hold her memory in our hearts as we are better for having known her.
