John was born May 19, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan to Proctor Sr and Ladora (Stoker) Ely.
John received his bachelor's in business, was a medic in the army airborne in Panama, he owned a carpet and upholstery cleaning. Priest at the Waldo Restoration Branch.
Proctor was also preceded in death by both of his parents and his sister Laura J Hiller
He was survived by two brothers Ed and Roy Ely, 5 children - Janet Hayes, Barbara Gentry, Nancy Horovitz, Andrea Pratt and Alex Ely. 10 grandchildren
