Richard's soul all never leave my family. We were friends for 35 + years.
 We loved & treasured him. Our Sympathies especially to David S. Cowger, Amy & "Chas" and to his many true friends who loved him dearly.

Dear Cowger Family, Richard was such a great friend of the Halfert Family and the such a asset to MB&L and his Kansas City Stockyards family too. He will be always remembered for his  patient, kind, and friendly personality in such a fast pace enviorment.

Dear Cowger Family, I always enjoyed the visits with Mr. Cowger, when he would come to visit the "home place" in Hardin. I am sorry to hear of his death.

When you come to gigantic precipice of all light you think you know,
About to step off into some deep abyss and darkness way below,
Faith is simply believing and knowing one of two things will come by:
There'll be firm earth to stand on, or you will be taught to fly.
 
There was once a mother eagle born so free and proud,
She flew high upon the wind, and all the creatures bowed;
“Confidence” her “middle name,” on the wing with unwavering glory,
She had so much us to tell, and this, her magnificent story.
 
She spread her wings and faced up toward the sky
In her radiant splendor, away did she fly;
She flew in the heavens, and o'er all earth below,
Gained wisdom from masters, so much she did know.
 
Nurtured all of her children, taught them how to soar,
Spread love and hope and courage, indeed so much more;
When things went all wrong, as they sometimes did,
She flew on the rainbows, her face, never hid.

When her flight seemed so stressful and she was going oh so slow,
Thought she'd never get up there to see more sunrise glow;
Success and peace seem next to us, you can't tell how close you are,
It's all right here inside your heart, quite near, when it seems so far.
 
She flew so close to God, she actually saw His face,
She felt His loving touch, His mercy and His grace;
Loving arms stretched all around her, His hands upheld her wings,
He always flew beside her, she glimpsed the King of Kings.
 
This story is quite amazing, but it's as true as it can be
God loves and understands us all:  the eagle, and you, and me;
His grace is all-sufficient for all creatures, young and old,
For the lonely and the timid, for the brave-hearted and the bold.
 
God's love knows no exceptions, it's for each and everyone
So never feel forgotten, your real life has just begun;
No matter who or what you are, no matter where you have been,
There's room for all who heed the call, He's made us all one kin.

Now in your grand adventures, trust God to understand,
No matter what your problems, place them in His merciful hand;
In all our unworthy self-centeredness, this God, He loves us still,
He's loved us since the world began, and what's more, He always will!
 
Our eagle still flies extremely high, on the edge of a sunrise dream,
She's a very special spirit, held in high majestic esteem;
Beautiful and magnificent, she overcomes obstacles she never knew,
Pettiness flees ‘neath her mighty wings, difficult heartbreaks, she slew.
 
Now when this all does come to pass, bold courage to carry on,

Richard Cowger
Began Life on this Earth, February 16, 1931 and Entered Eternal Life August 31, 2012
 
‘Twas the night of the blue moon, Richard's with us no more
He journeyed this life with zingy zest galore;
Richard, you walk with your true God on high, 
We'll join you one day, but for now, just goodbye.
 
We'll follow the trails you blazed for us all,
We've nothing to fear, if we follow God's call;
So, farewell, my dear brother, as you forever dwell,
With God and His angels, as “tall tales” you'll still tell.
 
We'll take care of all animals you loved so dear, they'll remind us of your love, and you are still right here; you shared shared laughter,old cars, antiques and our Lord, making sure in our journeys, we'd never be bored.
 
Your steps were very blessed, even when you did fall,
You just got right back up, and scaled bravely, each wall;
You've made that great leap to eternity, so bright, 
You soared with the angels, vanished away from our sight,
 
You join Charles, Katie, David, Gant and Stanley, too.  Many aunts, pets, and uncles, will guide you to what's new;

On the night of the blue moon, Richard Cowger departed this life,
Leaving behind all of its cares, its battles and strife;
Happy and free, he soars brilliant, with God,
Entering heaven in glory, he's been given the nod.

Meetin' up with his bros, sis, and mom and dad,
Settin' up another big old house in his brand new pad,
With so many garages for those gorgeous cars,
Maybe some antiques and great music, you could be "pawn stars!"

We laughed with your foibles, and at all of your jokes,
You entertained us to the max, with all your funny folks,
Through all of this fun, you were, indeed, just too much,
But if we needed anything, you were there in the clutch.

You reached out to others with a most joyful hand,
Never caring 'bout self, or just where you would land;
You fought the good fight and ran the great race,
Thanks to you, dearest Richard, we've a much better place.

We wish you the very best in your new home on high,
Bet it's nice and cool, way up there, while in KC, we fry;
Say "hi" to Kitty Max, Father John, and all the rest,
Buddy Wayne's got it made, 'tho he puts us to the test.

Greta's in very good shape in her brand new home,
A far cry from the farm, where she used to roam;
'Tho the farm and Chickalah were not really your thing,
You excelled at the Stock Yards, 'til their very last fling.

But your real claim to fame lies way yonder, over there,
With your other side kinfolk, spectacularly rare;
Who else could it be? And his favorite was YOU!
Now you stand beside him. You're St. Elmo's nephew!

I'm so sorry to hear of Richards passing. I have many fond memories of his interests in antiques and unique things. And as a child I remember being quite fascinated with his perspective on things.    I will remember him always,

Bob & Betty Swearingen, Barbara & Bob Tull send our deep heart felt condolences.  Betty was a childhood freind 0f Richards.We had lunch with Richard & Charles we will miss them

Richard and Charles were my good friends for the last 10 years. They treated me like we'd been friends for a lifetime. You couldn't find kinder, more friendly and helpful people anywhere. I'm greatly saddened and will miss Richard and Charles.

What a wonderful man. Our children Lenny and Jane, were so blessed to have known Richard, Charles, and Katie. I can only imagine the celebration in heaven with the family. God bless the family and close friends that have to miss this incredible human being.
