
Richard was born August 27, 1921, in Rich Hill, Missouri, to Claude Richard Yeates and Vernice Foreman Yeates. He graduated from Metz High School in 1939 and served in the U.S. Army as a radio operator, being discharged in 1943. On April 11, 1944, he married the love of his life, Aretha Brown Yeates, in Independence, Missouri. They celebrated 70 years of marriage this year. To this union was born Terresa Ann Yeates Etter (David) of Williamsburg, Kentucky, Thomas Richard Yeates (Brenda) of Raytown, Missouri, and Connita Ellen Yeates Fain (Frank) of Farmington, Missouri.
Richard retired as an agent from Allstate Insurance Company in 1986. He loved people and had a tender heart for children. He united with the Bethel Baptist Church of Rich Hill, Missouri, as a boy. He was a Shriner and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Donald Verlyn Yeates. In addition to his wife and children, he leaves behind 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
