Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass,
It is learning to dance in the rain.
Vivian Greene
Robbie Nell Scott born January 26, 1933 in the picturesque river town of Calico Rock Arkansas. Robbie passed peacefully surrounded by family in her home, Lee’s Summit Missouri July 21, 2021. True to her character Robbie had beaten all projected odds in her 16-month battle with pancreatic cancer. She maintained a spirit of perseverance and determination that was demonstrated in everything that she engaged in. Her extraordinary spirit was evident early on in her life, winning Arkansas’s All Girl State Basketball championship in 1950.
Robbie married Lester Scott in 1951 leaving rural Arkansas and moving to Sunflower Kansas, then to Lenexa Kansas then onward to Raytown Missouri where she was a dedicated wife and homemaker raising her three boys. As empty nesters Lester and Robbie retired to Lee’s Summit Missouri where they enjoyed their lakefront property, their grandchildren, and endless rounds of golf together. Robbie was a woman of faith and an active member of the Ruskin Heights Lutheran Church for over 40 years; she enjoyed singing classic gospel hymns and was always an integral part of church fundraisers and bake sales for charities.
Robbie was most at home when she was cooking in her kitchen. She was known regionally for her famous cookies, coconut cream pies, and Scottish shortbreads; each of which could rival any culinary chef. In addition to her love of baking was her unsurpassed love of gardening. She could be found daily in her many gardens pruning, picking and sharing her bounty with neighbors and friends. This love of sharing had become her purpose, her own way of being benevolent. She took special joy in these relationships and in her own unique way brought beauty to those who shared in her world. Robbie’s world was definitely a beautiful, informed and poetic world, she will truly be missed.
Robbie Scott devoted wife of Lester F Scott (deceased) Sister to Ernest Guthrie (deceased), Tom Guthrie (deceased) Joyce Guthrie Skinner (deceased) Mary Guthrie Thurman. The caring Mother to Michael (Ellen) of Santa Fe NM, Kipling, (Kristina) of Springfield MO and Roger Scott of Loveland CO. and Extended Mother to AFS student Paul Kleughen of Southport NC.
