Robert Allan Hubbard passed away on June 21, 2020 at the age of 93, in Independence, Missouri. Born January 3, 1927 in Topeka, Kansas, Robert was a WWII veteran, having served in the United States Navy as an ordnance loader in the South Pacific. Robert was in the training program to become a U.S. Navy fighter pilot, but when it was clear the war was coming to a close, the Navy transferred him to other duties.
Robert graduated from Finlay Engineering College with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering in 1949 and went on to work as an electrician at Westinghouse and Western Electric. He also established and successfully operated his own saw sharpening business in addition to the many side jobs he undertook. Most of these were electrical work, but Robert was also accomplished at carpentry, masonry, roofing, welding, and more. He will be remembered as a jack-of-all trades and a master of all.
Robert enjoyed woodworking and was a ham radio operator, but his true passion was for his wife, Nadine, and his children. Robert and Nadine were married in 1950 and were an inseparable pair right to the end.
Robert was preceded in death by his son, Thomas (Evelyn), who passed away in 2014.
Robert is survived by his wife, Nadine; two sons, Richard (Carol) and Philip (Sonya); and beloved grandchildren.
