Robert B. Stauffer of Kansas City, Mo. died at home February 21 at the age of 95. The World War II veteran was a captain and bombardier in the Army Air Corp. A member of the Flying Tigers, he was awarded a Silver Star, Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross for his role in combat. He was a graduate of Kansas City Central High School and the University of Missouri Columbia, and a long-time elder at Central Presbyterian Church. His career was in retail management for Katz Drugs Stores, Skaggs and Osco. He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years Virginia and sister Alice, and survived by sons Robert, Dennis and John, daughter Carol, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He is remembered fondly for his sense of humor and his love and support for his family.
Visitation will be held 10 – 11 a.m., Thursday, February 26, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO 64131. Interment in Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
