

Roland Dean Sneed of Blue Springs, MO, died on Sunday, December 5, 2021, of cardiac arrest. He was 81. Roland was born on April 28, 1940 in Girard, KS, as the first of three sons to James Walter Sneed and Gertrude Alice Clark.
In 1957, Roland graduated high school from South Side High School in Memphis, TN; followed by serving the United States Army for three years with honorable discharge as SP4 E-4 (P), and he was a drill team member. Roland had jobs that mostly dealt with sales, including at four major tire companies. He held management positions and retired as a self-employed salesman of company logo labels and merchandise at age 79.
college degree was pursued in his middle-age years while working. Roland earned a Bachelor of Business Administration “with distinction” from the Block School of Business at the University of Missouri, Kansas City in 1992. He was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society for Collegiate Schools of Business and received a certificate from the Golden Key National Honor Society “in recognition of Outstanding Scholastic Achievement and Excellence.”
During retirement, Roland began an autobiography (starting post Army), which he shared a little at a time on social media. Roland also made much progress of scanning photographs, family history, and important documents into digital format.
Roland was a Christian man who was very involved in church, holding leadership roles, such as Elder, Deacon, Youth Leader, and Sunday School Teacher. He was currently a member of Blue Springs Church of the Nazarene.
Organizations he belonged to included Ancient Free and Accepted Masonry (45 years), and highest office held was Master Mason; Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite (44 yrs), achieving 32nd Degree; member of the Order of the Eastern Star (40 yrs); American Legion; and Loyal Order of Moose. Interests were photography, movies, painting, NASCAR, collecting model racecars and ones mostly from the 1950’s, music, as well as played the steel guitar and piano. He learned to fly a Piper Cub and Cessna 150.
Roland is survived by his third wife, Ellen; daughter from his first marriage, Sherilyn Camerlinck (David); granddaughter, Dallas Camerlinck, and her sons, David “Cooper” Camerlinck and Easton Camerlinck; granddaughter, Danielle Camerlinck; step-daughter, Lori Snow (Vic) and her children, Scott Tuell (Naomi), Brandon Tuell, Alaric Snow; Step-son Rob Hanson and his step-son, David Harding; and his brothers, Dennis “Jack” Sneed (Carol) and Harold Sneed (Pat).
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Services will take place Saturday, December 11, 2021, beginning at Blue Springs Church of the Nazarene: 2801 SW Walnut Street, Blue Springs, MO 64015. Visitation with viewing and Patriot Guard begins at 9:00 a.m., Masonic Funeral Service at 9:45, and programmed funeral at 10:00. Burial is at Floral Hills Cemetery at 1:30 with Military Honors: 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Raytown, MO 64133. Roland will be buried in the Garden of the Last Supper, Lot 89 B.
