

Salvatore A (Sam) Brocato passed away Saturday, January 8, 2011 at home surrounded by his family. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 1:30 pm, Tuesday January 11, 2011 at the Church of the Nativity in Leawood, KS. Friends may call from 5 - 7pm, Monday, January 10th at the church with the Rosary at 7pm, entombment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Boy Scouts of America at Heart of America Council, 10210 Holmes Road, Kansas City, MO. 64131 or Odyssey HealthCare of Kansas, 8735 Rosehill Road, Suite 200, Lenexa, Kansas 66215.
Sam was born May 30, 1941 in Kansas City, MO. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and uncle. Family and friends meant everything to him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Josephine Brocato. He is survived by his wife Joanne of 47 years, daughters and sons-in-law Beth and Mike Stompoly and Vickie and Scott Stoneberger, grandchildren Natalie, Rachel, Michaela and Hannah Stompoly and Jessica, Katie, and Jason Stoneberger, brother and sister-in-law Joseph J and Frances Brocato, and in-laws Frank Termini, Georgianna and Phil Bartolotta, Chuck and Angela Termini, cousin Rosalie Ray, many nieces and nephews as well as relatives in Texas.
Sam loved participating in Boy Scouts with his nephews, was a Warrior in the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, participated in many Eagle Boards of Review, was camp Scoutmaster at Bartle, and spent many summers at scout camp. He belonged to Unico National and worked for many years with the St. Joseph Table at St. Thomas More parish in KCMO. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves as a Chief Damage Controlman. Sam worked in sales his entire career and retired from Church & Dwight after 25 years.
