Sam was born August 21, 1935 in Manhattan, Kansas. He was a successful businessman for the duration of his career there, and an avid pool player throughout his life. Upon his retirement, Sam and his beloved wife, Mary, moved to Arizona. After several years, they returned to Kansas to be closer to family. Sam lived the remainder of his days in his home state.
Survivors include Sam's wife, Mary Gilman; children, Tim (Lani) and Mont (Stacey) Gilman; and his beloved grandchildren; as well as his brother, Quentin Gilman, extended family, and friends.
