

Sharon Marie Bogart, 78, was born on February 12, 1937 in Mansfield, Missouri. She grew up in Hartville, Missouri and moved to Kansas City in 1953. She graduated from Southwest High School in 1955 and attended Southwest Missouri State University. She was a member at 1st Baptist Church of Raytown and was formally employed by the Department of Agriculture-Grain Contracts Division before retiring from the Federal Government. She enjoyed attending Sunday School class functions, having lunch with her work friends and spending quality time with her long time friends, Barbara Willis, Myrna Nugent, Edith Blank and the late Connie Drace. Grammy never missed the opportunity to spend time with her three grandchildren.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, John Burke and Lois Marie Dennis, her daughter, Katy Newman, and her granddaughter, Kathryn Newman.
She is survived by her daughter Elizabeth Knipp (Jeff), son Jeff Bogart (Lori), three grandchildren, Colin Knipp, Bryce Bogart and Lindsey Bogart, sister Suzanne Chastain (Larry), and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at Mt. Moriah, Newcomer & Freeman Funeral Home on Saturday, May 9, at 10:00 a.m. with a service following at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be at Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Luke’s Hospital-Plaza for their exceptional care and support during her final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making donations to the Lupus Foundation of America, Heartland Chapter.
