

Sharon Piontek, 79, Kansas City passed away Nov. 7, 2017, surrounded by family. A Visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 10 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City, MO. Mass of Christian Burial is Saturday, Nov. 11 at 10:00 Am at St Charles Borromeo Church, 800 Shady Lane, Kansas City, MO followed by burial at Resurrection Cemetery, Kansas City.
Sharon was born Feb. 11, 1938 in Concordia, MO to Obed and Dora Flandermeyer. After graduation from Concordia High School she moved to Kansas City to start her career. On a blind date, she met Al Piontek, whom she would marry. They enjoyed 60 years together. The majority of her working life, she was employed as an office administrator at Georgia Pacific.
She was a loving mother, wife and friend. Her family was her first priority, but she also enjoyed square dancing with Al, sewing, ceramics, gardening, bunko and her church.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents; her son Michael Piontek; and her siblings, Bud Flandermeyer, Ethel Quinn, Ora Riesterer, Helen Erdwins, Gladys Maxwell, Hazel Payne, Wilma Schnakenberg, and Leanna Flandermeyer. Survivors include her loving husband, Al; children Cindy Freeman, Shelley Breshears, Sandy Piontek, Greg (Lee Ann) Piontek and Sheila Sirridge; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
