

Sharon Kay Reimal, age 79 passed away peacefully at home on July 27, 2024 with loving family by her side. She was born in Kansas City, Missouri on August 5, 1944 to Roy Jacob Mitchell and Arliss Nadine VanCampen Mitchell. She grew up and spent most of her life in the Kansas City area. Sharon graduated from East High School in 1962. She was active in athletics and choir and small coral ensembles. She was a self-proclaimed 'tom-boy' playing football or basketball while in school, or time at the farms of her grandparents Van Campen and Mitchell. Sharon cared for her younger siblings, Van Allen, Greg, and Peggy McCright. She also has a brother Mike Mitchell, and brother by marriage, George “Hank” McCright Jr.
Sharon always knew she wanted to be a teacher. Upon graduation from high school, she attended Central Missouri State College, now UCM, majoring in elementary education. She played varsity field hockey, taught in the GED program and was a residence hall office manager. Sharon earned a Bachelor's Degree in 1966, and began her career in the Independence School District at Blackburn Elementary School teaching first grade. While teaching, she attended college for advanced degrees, graduating from University of Missouri at Kansas City with a Master's Degree in Special Education. Later she attended KU and UMKC, receiving the degree of Educational Specialist in Administration from UMKC. She taught learning disabled and advocated for parents of handicapped children. She served as National Educational Association representative, head teacher, and staffing coordinator. In 1985 Sharon continued her career in North Kansas City, serving 13 years progressively as Special Education Coordinator, Assistant Principal then Principal, retiring in 1998. She then devoted more time to her husband and family, gardening, traveling, cooking, and reading, all while substitute teaching.
Sharon married Bradley Warren Reimal Sr of Independence, in Lee's Summit, Missouri on March 22, 1970. It was the second marriage for both. Brad Jr. and Cheryl came to the marriage with Brad, and Deborah Kay was born in 1971. This beautiful and fulfilling marriage lasted for 51 years. Brad and Sharon lived in Independence and Kansas City, Missouri. One was rarely seen without the other.
Sharon was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church for 45 years, serving as youth choir director and other assorted positions, until moving to Woods Chapel UMC, where she made wonderful friends, and was a member until her passing. Sharon was active in Kansas City Symphony Alliance, Blue Stocking Book Club, Master Gardner of KC, and a delightful Bunko group.
Sharon was preceded in death by: her husband Brad Sr, parents Roy and Arliss, step parents June, George and Betty, brother Van Alan McCright, George “Hank” McCright Jr, and Bradley W Reimal, Jr.
Sharon loved and enjoyed most of all, God, husband and children. She loved music, cooking, traveling and meeting people. Her smile, laughter and warm pumpkin pies will be missed by her family and many friends.
Her Memorial Service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, August 17, with a graveside and reception to follow, at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133.
