April 19, 1936 –
Shirley Ann Garcia, known to her loved ones as “Mow,” passed peacefully on April 29, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Garcia, and daughter, Vickie Balistreri.
Shirley was a life-long resident of the Kansas City area, spending most of her time catching up with the Kardashians and taking care of cats. She was an avid viewer of popular shows like The Walking Dead, The Real Housewives and The Duggars.
Her true love was reserved for others, especially her family. Shirley was a caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was not afraid to spend money freely for her children and grandchildren. In 79 years, the concept of showing up to a party empty handed was never one she knew. Her love and compassion for others extended toward her pets, which included a few strays from the neighborhood.
She is survived by her loving daughters Judy Riddle, Cindy Campbell and Sharon Smith. Son in laws—Dave Riddle, Pat Campbell, Bill Smith and Rick Balistreri. Grandchildren—Jason Balistreri, Nicole and Caleb Allen, David Riddle, Kristen Riddle, Josh Campbell, Andrew Campbell, Isabelle Smith, Lauren Smith, Garrett Smith and great-grandchildren Emma and Olivia Allen. Visitation Services will be held at Floral Hills Funeral Home on Monday, May 4, 2015 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Prayer service will begin at 7:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Independence, MO.
Together we danced, we laughed, we sang, we loved and we lived. We will miss you Mow. We will love you forever.
