Shirley was born December 14, 1943 to Roy and Clarice (Bryant) Thurman in Stockton, CA. She had lived in Kansas City for the past 30 years. Shirley was a 30 year employee for Smith Level Co. She loved dogs, art, gardening, growing flowers and woodworking. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and NAMI (National Alliance for the Mentally ILL). Shirley was passionate about her family.
Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Floyd Wood, Jr.; parents and brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her husband Paul Hodshire; daughters, Debra Sharp and Dorothy (Ron) Haag; a daughter-in-law, Dee Dee Gebhart; 5 grandchildren, Russell (Jessica) Wood, Richard (Shantelle) Carl, David (Jordyn) Berry, Cheyenne Haag and Breanne Haag; 8 great grandchildren Brendon Wright, Hannah Wood, Breanna Wood, Macy Carl, Emma Carl, Wyatte Berry, Roe Berry and Nova Berry; and an extended number of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Disabled American Veterans Association.
