Shirley Dean Prettyman

Shirley Dean Prettyman, 83, Gladstone, MO, passed away August 2, 2013 at her home. Shirley was born March 25, 1930 in Mulberry where she was raised. She had lived in Kansas City since 1948. For more than 20 years she was a product demonstrator at Sam’s Wholesale Club, a job she thoroughly enjoyed. She was a member of the Carpenter’s Local 61 Retirees Association. Her family, especially her great grandchildren, was her joy. She was a Christian. Her husband, William Prettyman, preceded her in death in 1989; also proceeded in death by her brothers, Earnest, William and Junior Coates.

Survivors include two daughters, Gail Summers and husband, Stafford, Lathrop, MO; Cindy Prettyman Ethridge and husband Andy, Weston, MO; sister, Rosalie Taylor, Seneca, MO 5 grandchildren, Synda Summers-Sanstra, Scott and Shauna Norton, Amber Summers, Andrea Summers and Camden Summers; and 9 great grandchildren, Brystol, Indy, Daytona, Trevor, Allison, Gage, Zander, Zoey and Connor; and best friend, Mary Sharp.

Visitation is from 6-8 PM Wednesday, August 7th at the McGilley Antioch Chapel. Funeral services are 2 PM Thursday, August 8th at the Bedene Funeral Home, Arma, KS; burial in Rose Bank Cemetery, Mulberry, KS. Contributions are suggested to the Wounded Warrior Project.
