

Sidney Wallace Beck, age 93, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, August 6, 2025. Sidney “Sid” was born on March 24, 1932, in Concordia, Missouri to Lorenz Beck of Jefferson City, Missouri and Theresia (Roehrs) Beck of Concordia, Missouri.
Upon graduation from high school in Kansas City, Sid joined the Navy where he served with distinction on the USS Walton and at Pearl Harbor as a Quartermaster Third Class signalman.
After leaving the Navy, Sid married the love of his life, Ara Lee (Duncan) Beck, on July 12, 1958. They celebrated 62 wonderful years together until she passed away, at the age of 81, in April 2021. He continued on without her, with the help of his children, until his passing but missed her dearly every day until God granted his wish to pass peacefully in his sleep to join her in Heaven.
Sid and Ara Lee were blessed with four children – Dana (Bruce) Hackett, Dan Beck, Tim Beck, and Debbie (Dave) Hill. They had six grandchildren – Shannon Hackett, Ben Hackett, Jeff (Lindsey) Beck, Samantha (Chris) Garrett, Duncan Hill, and Devin Hill. They also had five great-grandchildren – Dalton, Ayden, Lily, Jordan, and Kinsley. They loved their children and grandchildren very much.
Sid made a life for his wife and children in the Kansas City area while building a career in the printing trade at the Lowell Press. He often spoke of how he enjoyed his career as it changed from operating presses all the way to digital page design as the industry evolved.
Sid was preceded in death by his father, Lorenz Beck; mother, Theresia Beck; brother, Clifford Beck; sister, Lynette (Bob) Baker; brother, Kenneth Beck; son, Dan Beck; and, of course, his beloved wife Ara Lee.
He was a loving husband, father, and grandpa. He will be dearly missed.
A funeral service will be held at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133, on August 14, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am.
A graveside service with military honors will follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery @ Higginsville, located at 20109 Bus, Higginsville, MO 64037, on August 14, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.
