Stephen Joseph Matzek

Stephen J Matzek ,53, passed away in Kansas City, MO. February 16,2025. Steve was born in Munich, Bavaria, Germany on April 4,1971 to Greg W. Anderson and Beverly (Bohling) Anderson. He was later adopted by Paul Matzek. He graduated from Seaman High School 1989, in Topeka, KS.

Steve was married to Maxine Bishop February 2024. They had a blended family of five children. They are Aaron, Taylor, Anthony, Kendra Matzek and Jenny Uphoff of the home. He served eight years in the United States Air Force, with a tour of duty in Operation Desert Storm. He was a lifelong fan of the Chiefs and an avid collector of firearms.

Steve is survived by his wife Maxine Matzek, mother Beverly Rice, father Paul Matzek and brother Dustin Matzek, all of the Kansas City area. Uncle Michael Bohling in Lansing, KS. He was predeceased by his Grandparents Frank and Marcelline Anderson of Scottville, Michigan. Richard and Betty Bohling, Bertha Matzek, Uncles Richard and Carter Bohling all from Chanute, KS area.

A visitation for Stephen will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 Northeast Vivion Road, Kansas City, MO 64119, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM. A reception will be held at the VFW 5606, 5406 NE Oak Ridge Dr, Kansas City MO 64119 after the memorial service.
