Tom was the son of Elec A Jarboe and Betty J Jarboe. He attended Winnwood Baptist Church and graduated from Winnetonka High School where he played varsity basketball and participated in band. Tom was a member of Boy Scout Troop 252 and earned his Eagle Award and Warrior/Runner in the Tribe of Mic-O-say. He later earned a bachelor’s degree in biology from William Jewell College and a master’s degree in Park and Recreation Management from the University of Missouri.
Tom loved his work a park ranger for Clay County, Missouri Department of Parks and Recreation at Smithville Lake. Eventually, he moved to a position with the State of Missouri Department of Natural Resources as a park ranger at Thousand Hills State Park. He retired as a captain in the department with responsibilities for managing all state parks north of the Missouri River as well as the Katy Trail.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elec and Betty Jarboe. Tom also had special animals in his life, and he was preceded in death by his beloved boyhood German Shepard, Chancelor, and his Percheron/Morgan horse, Bear.
Survivors include his brother Edwin F Jarboe (Terri) of Olathe, Kansas and his sister Jeananne Jarboe of Kansas City, Missouri, his nephew Scott Jarboe (Aimee) and children of St. Louis, Missouri, and his niece Jenna Delay (Chris) and children of Abilene, Kansas.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, November 25 at 2:00 at White Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting that memorial donations be made to your local animal shelters.
