Thomas was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church until it closed and membership transferred to St. Regis Catholic Church. He was a graduate of De La Salle Academy and Rockhurst University. He was a World War II veteran, a member of the American Legion Post 21, manager for Fred Wolferman Inc. and served as president of the credit union. He later became president and owner of R.E.D. Concrete Company. Being a long-time Kansas City Chiefs football fan since 1963, he serviced on the Board of Directors for the Kansas City Chiefs Arrowhead Club.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, James and Anna; son Mark; brother James Jr.; and sister Mildred. He is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Doris; daughter Marsha who loved him and was thought of as an angel; brother Judge William; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 11, at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
