A Memorial Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at the McGilley Antioch Chapel, 3325 NE Vivion Road, Kansas City, MO 64119.
Tom was born in Kansas City, MO to Daniel and Vincentine (Bruns) Zaner on December 4, 1948. He attended Bishop Hogan High School. He met Roberta Jackson in 1974 and they married in November of 1976. He worked as a Brakes and Clutch Specialist for Haldex Industries until his retirement in 2015. He was involved in the Knights of Columbus Chapter 1698.
Tom was a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan and even made his own bus to shuttle himself, family and friends to games. A man of many talents, Tom was also a talented woodworker, car buff, mechanic, and avid golfer and softball player.
He will forever be lovingly remembered by his 6 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild as “Po-Po.”
Tom is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Don Zaner, and Don’s wife, Frances; his sister, Sister Kathleen Zaner; as well as aunts, uncles, a niece (goddaughter), and a nephew.
He leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Roberta Zaner; children, Paul Zaner, Loretta (James) Brown, Jacqueline (Joe Infranca) Baskett; grandchildren, James Brown, III, Antonio Bermudez, Simone Judon, Jazmine Brown, Jade Brown, and Desiree Judon; great-grandson, Roman Bermudez; siblings, Sis (Ray) Stockman, Dan (Susan) Zaner, Bob (Theresa) Zaner, Jim (Cookie) Zaner, Margie Flattery, and Charlie (Judy) Zaner; as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews, and friends to cherish his memory.
Honorary Pallbearers will be James Brown, Jr, James Brown, III, and Joe Infranca.
Memorial Donations in Tom’s memory may be given to the fund for fallen Kansas City Fire Fighters, payable to IAFF Local 42, and sent to 6320 Manchester Ave., Suite 42A, Kansas City, MO, 64133 or Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Rd, Kansas City, MO 64137.
