My condolences to the family of Vern.  I worked with him several times at KCPD and later when he was with Independence PD.  Vern was one of the best Detectives that I knew and a good friend.  He was always available to discuss any cases or to ask for advice.  He was a definite credit to law enforcement.  I know you will miss him and everyone who knew him will also miss him.
