Vicki Mendolia Weems passed away suddenly June 15, 2024 at Tennova Healthcare in Cleveland, Tennessee, age 78.
She was born January 4, 1946 in Kansas City, Kansas to William and Winifred (Clevenger) Mendolia, the middle of three daughters. She spent happy early years in Kansas City before moving with the family to the New Orleans area, where she attended St. Frances Cabrini School and graduated from Saint Joseph Academy.
Vicki began her professional career with South Central Bell as a telephone operator and retired from AT&T in 1999 after many years of dedicated and unfailing service. She enjoyed working with others, possessed a strong work ethic and always strived to perform her duties with excellence.
In her retirement, she settled with her husband, Larry B. Weems, in Cleveland, Tennessee and focused on enjoying every day and being a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Vicki was giving, compassionate, but most of all selfless. She was the first to offer help whenever needed and for whatever reason, including moving across country to be near her mother in her final years. She was genuinely interested in others and countless times would strike up a conversation with someone nearby just because. She enjoyed reading, especially biographies, and movies, the older the better. She enjoyed cooking for others, which she did very well, whether it was Sunday breakfast for five or a holiday party for fifty.
She will be forever loved and missed.
Vicki was preceded in death by her parents, brother in law Thomas O'Renick and brother in law Steve Peregoy.
She is survived by her husband, son and daughter in law Gerald and Barbara Miller, sisters and brother in law Linda and David Arnot and Janice Peregoy, granddaughter Samantha Miller and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, August 10th at 2:00 PM at St. Peter's Parish, 815 E Meyer Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64131.
