Willa Lea Overton

She was born on March 23, 1932 near Harris, MO and was the daughter of Clifford H. Stottlemyre and Bertha Leona Rhoades Stottlemyre.

Willa got married to Archie R. Overton on January 10, 1951 and they were married for 58 years. They had a “Hilltop Wedding” in Princeton, MO. Archie preceded her in death on September 2, 2008.

She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Georgia Sykes and Virginia Gardner; and one brother, Clifton Leon Stottlemyre.

Willa is survived by three children, Randy Overton, Rodney Overton, and Rebecca “Becky” Denny; 6 grandchildren: Jason, Sonja, Jennifer and Brad Overton, Brandon Byrd and Meghan Farrell; 14 great grandchildren: Chase, Brock, Lane, Melissa, Madelyn, Colston and Kruz Overton, Kayla Lane, Zori and Matthis Mauldin, Tatum Whetstone, Deacon Byrd, Lucas Crank and Harrison Farrell; and two great-great grandsons: Gunner and Reed Overton.

Willa always put God, family and friends first, never met a stranger and an open door to anyone who needed it. She cared for elderly family and helped raise two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Willa was the pillar and strength of our family.

She was very active in her community and was a member of Longview Baptist Church. She was also a lifetime member of the Women’s VFW Auxiliary and the Pioneers of America. Willa was also employed with AT&T and retired after 29 years of employment.

A visitation will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, with service to begin at 2:00 PM at Newcomer's Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO. A burial will follow immediately afterwards at Floral Hills East Memorial Gardens, 25203 E US Hwy 50, Lee's Summit, MO.
