William “Bill” Wesley Porter Jr., 69, passed away on February 4, 2025. He was born on November 21, 1955 to his parents, William Wesley Porter Sr and Marjorie Dunn. He has lived in Peculiar, MO since 1992 but grew up in Raytown.
He was a dedicated insulator and proud member of Local #27. Throughout his career, he took great pride in his work and the friendships he built along the way.
After retiring, Bill embraced the simple joys of life, spending his days fishing, hunting, and making the most of every moment. He always seemed to find strangers and friends to take out fishing on his boat. Later, he returned to one of his lifelong passions—painting and drawing—where he found fulfillment and creativity.
He will be remembered for his hard work, love of the outdoors, and artistic spirit. He leaves behind family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Bill was a tough man with a will to survive and never gave up.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Scott; three sisters, Donna Cook, Elizabeth and Sue Ann Porter; and nephew, Thomas L. Cook.
Bill is survived by his wife, Linda; two children, Wesley Porter (Christin) and Ashley Barnett (Roger); three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 5-6 PM, with Rosary to begin at 6 PM, on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO. A memorial service will take place at 10 AM on Friday, February 21, also at Floral Hills Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Raytown.
