

He was born on November 15, 1928 in Pleasant Plains, Arkansas to his parents, Will and Edna Vandaveer. He moved to Lexington, Oklahoma at an early age. During high school he excelled on the basketball court. After high school, he married Donna Hunt and they moved to Kansas City, MO. Bill worked for the Safeway Company for 47 years until retirement. He was active in his church, serving as a Deacon and taught Sunday School for 70 plus years. He was an avid, skilled bowler, recording a 300 game and an 800 series. His accomplishments are noted in the National Bowling Hall of Fame in Arlington, TX. He was also a very knowledgeable and avid Royals and Chiefs fan!
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Shelley Myers; and his siblings: Rosa, Alma, June, Gladys, Woodrow, Jake and Dean.
Bill is survived by his wife of 74 years, Donna; daughter, Debra Brady and her husband of Lebanon, MO; son-in-law, Ron Myers of Carl Junction, MO; 3 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 1-2 PM, with service at 2 PM, on Monday, January 13, 2025 at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO. A graveside service will occur immediately following at Floral Hills East Memorial Gardens, 25203 E US Hwy 50, Lee's Summit, MO 64086.
