Alan was born on January 16, 1936, grew up in Mankato, Minnesota, and graduated from Mankato Senior High School in 1954. In 1959, he met Judith Ann Dutler, who he would marry on January 17, 1960. Alan served 8 years in the Minnesota National Guard achieving the rank of Staff Sargeant. He cherished their 56 year marriage that brought them much joy, delightful children, and years of enjoyment right up until his death. Along with his family, Alan and Judith moved around the country in pursuit of their interests and careers. He would go on to spend his life working either in sales or management positions that would take them to various areas in the U.S. and introduce he and Judith to a vast array of interesting people, and situations. He spent many years in the vending machine industry, followed that with motel/hotel management and working with large groups of people , which also involved working with movie crews while they were filming their movies. Alan was also a licensed real estate agent and licensed insurance and investment agent. He would go on to work in the flooring, home décor and home design business and for many years enjoyed excellent rappport with employers, fellow employees and clients. While doing this he also pursued his interests in travel, as a philatelist (stamp collector), finding time for church, family-oriented activities, home related projects, and restoring and refinishing antiques. He most recently enjoyed his online internet book business, but his priority was always his children, his home, his wife and his faith. He enjoyed reading religious books and listening to music was a favorite pastime. He loved a good laugh and teasing his children and wife with little jokes, but always with a twinkle in his eye, that was his “tell” so you could guess what he was up to. Alan’s quiet, unassuming ways will be forever missed by all of us.
