Alicia Ella Palomar, known as “Lola”, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2024, after living 94 years for our Heavenly Father and spreading His joy and love to all those who knew her. She was born to Ricardo and Adela Ella on October 31, 1929 in Naga City, Philippines and was the third youngest out of thirteen siblings. She lived in Naga City until traveling to the United States in 1948 where she began her nursing career in New York City as a foreign exchange student. She moved back to the Philippines two years later to finish out her schooling at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. All of her hard work and determination paid off as she graduated with a degree in nursing. Lola moved back to the U.S. in 1968 with her husband, Ernest, for the advancement of her career. They started a family in Chicago, Illinois and were blessed with two sons, Wayne and Joseph. They eventually sought a change of scenery to raise their family and moved to Katy, Texas in 1980. She worked at three different hospitals while in the Houston area before deciding to retire in 2004. Soon after retirement, Lola settled in the Rockwall Community east of Dallas with her son, Joseph. She visited her hometown of Naga City over the following two years, but ultimately focused on spending time with her sons and grandchildren.
Alicia was a devout Christian her entire life. She lived her life for God and was a kind and loving soul to everyone around. She used her spiritual gift while working as a nurse bringing joy and love to those who were experiencing pain and suffering. She loved dancing, wearing her pretty ballroom dresses, going to casinos to play the slot machines, going on cruises, and, most of all, eating chocolate. She will be greatly missed.
Alicia was the last living sibling of her thirteen brothers and sisters. She is survived by her two sons, Wayne and wife Jenifer; Joseph and wife D’Ann; nine grandchildren, Gavin; Gage and wife Michelle; Dawson; Caleb; Collin; Caden; Kali; Xandria; Pierce; two great grandchildren, Avra; Lucy; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in a large, extended family.
