Arif Handra was born in Makassar on February 3, 1932. He is survived by his wife, Nila, and one daughter, Lia. He had a second daughter, Santy, but she unfortunately passed away in a car accident when she was young.
In Indonesia he worked at Kimia Farma as a Human Resources manager. He moved to Kansas in the late 1990’s to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren. There he worked for Walmart in Produce and the Bakery. He was very good in the bakery and well liked and was offered a position as a manager, but he chose to not take that offer.
He stated that if he could go back in time, he would have chosen a different career, like a doctor, because he enjoys helping people.
He loved to travel and visited several continents & countries including Asia, Europe, Australia, North America (USA and Canada).
About 20 years ago Arif was diagnosed with Stage 4 prostate cancer. At that point he decided to retire from Walmart, and customers told the manager at Walmart that if Arif didn’t make the donuts, they didn’t want to buy them!
In describing himself, he stated that “I’m very happy that I could live this long!”
Arif was very kind, loving, and most thoughtful man – Always thinking about other people over himself. About a month ago, he said that he felt so Blessed that he was not in pain.
Arif, Go in Peace and may you always be by God’s side!
