July 9, 1982 – August 23, 2025
David Bren Rothrock passed away on August 23, 2025, at the age of 43. He was born on July 9, 1982 in Tyler, Texas. , David was a beloved son, brother, and friend whose life was marked by warmth, humor, and quiet strength. He resided in Katy, Texas, where he built lasting connections with those around him.
Affectionately known by some as “Shatter” or “Bubba,” David was a man of many layers—funny, thoughtful, and deeply loyal. He was exceptionally intelligent, gifted with a photographic memory that often amazed those around him. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas State University in San Marcos, earning a degree in Management. His academic success reflected not only his sharp mind but also his dedication and drive—qualities that defined him throughout his life.
David faced lifelong struggles with depression, which at times led him into cycles of drug use and difficult behavior. He often tried to adapt himself to those around him—like a chameleon—seeking connection, acceptance, and a sense of belonging. Beneath that shifting surface was a man with a brilliant mind, a tender heart, and a longing to be understood.
He is survived by his devoted mother, Lois, and his loving sister, Melissa. Their bond was a constant in his life—filled with shared memories, laughter, and unconditional support. Though his passing was the result of a drug overdose, David’s story is not defined by that moment. It is defined by the love he gave, the joy he sparked, and the potential he carried.
A memorial service to honor David’s life will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Katy Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and celebrate the life of a man who gave so much to others.
David will be remembered for his gentle heart, his thoughtful nature, and the way he made others feel truly seen. Whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or a perfectly timed joke, he left an imprint on everyone who knew him.
Loved ones may also visit his Dignity Memorial tribute page to light a virtual candle, share stories, or send flowers and notes of sympathy. These acts of remembrance help preserve the spirit of a life lived with meaning.
David’s life was a gift. His memory will continue to inspire compassion, connection, and healing.
