Edward Mark Wilder of Katy, Texas passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2020 in Katy. Ed was born on October 8, 1945 in the Panama Canal Zone, and is preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Debora Wilder.
Ed grew up in the Canal Zone where he attended Balboa High School, and later the Canal Zone College and Florida Institute of Technology. He married the love of his life, Janelle Randle Wilder, on Valentine’s Day 1969. They happily spent the next 51 years together. Ed and Janelle have two sons who were his pride and joy. He had three grandchildren who he absolutely adored and who adored him back. Ed loved his country, animals, golf, and restoring old cars (especially Volkswagens!). He proudly served in the United States Army for 22 years, a majority of which he spent as a Green Beret and retired in 1986 as a Major. He then worked in information technology until he retired.
Ed is survived by his wife, Janelle; son, Wesley, his wife, Mandi, and their children: Jake and Graham of Houston; son, Jason, his fiancée, Jamie, and daughter Skylla of Conroe; and beloved canine companion, Jack. Ed is preceded in death by his brother, Matthew Wilder, and sister, Deborah Wilder Smith.
A graveside service will be held Thursday September 17, 2020 at 12:30 PM at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr. Houston, TX. 77038.
